Dr Vanessa Pinder is committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act, 2018. Looking after the personal information you share with us is very important, and we want you to be confident that your personal data is kept safely and securely.  

If we make changes to this notice we will notify you by updating it on our website. Dr. Pinder is known as the ‘Data Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us.  By Data Controller, this means she determines the purposes and way in which any personal data are, or will be, processed. 

We are legally required to keep personal information including:

  • Your full name
  • address
  • date of birth
  • contact numbers
  • e-mail address
  • general practitioner provider details
  • medical information to/from health professionals regarding the provision of your medical treatment.

We are permitted by law to collect, use and share your medical information with other medical agencies/health professionals regarding the provision of your medical treatment.  We will not sell, distribute or otherwise disclose your information without your consent, unless required or permitted to do so by law. We are fully registered with the Jersey Office of the information Commissioner https://jerseyoic.org/

Dr Pinder also works with suppliers who may make use of cloud and/or hosted technologies. Dr Pinder undertakes data security due diligence on our suppliers and ensure that these suppliers conform to appropriate accreditations. 

Relevant Law

The way in which we process personal data is governed by data protection law, which includes the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 (the ‘DPJL 2018’), the Data Protection Authority (Jersey) Law 2018 (the ‘Authority Law’) [and,
where relevant, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (‘GDPR’)].

We will comply with the data protection principles when gathering and using personal information.

Your rights

Under data protection legislation, you have various rights in connection with any personal data about you that is
processed by us as data controller. These include rights to:

  • Require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we hold;

  • Receive the personal data concerning you which you have provided to Us in a structured, commonly used
    and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third party in certain situations;
  • Object at any time to processing of personal data concerning you for direct marketing;
  • Object to decisions being taken by automated means which produce legal effects concerning you or similarly
    significantly affect you;
  • Object in certain other situations to our continued processing of your personal data;
  • Otherwise restrict our processing of your personal data in certain circumstances; and
  • Claim compensation for damages caused by our breach of any data protection laws.

Keeping your personal information secure

We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your personal information to those who have a genuine business need to know it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our website; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Changes to this Notice

We reserve the right to modify this notice at any time.

Terms and conditions

We require at least 48 hours notice, if you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment or procedure without charge.

For appointments on a Friday, we must receive notification before 11am on the preceding Wednesday.

For cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or if you do not attend your appointment, a cancellation fee of 100% of the appointment charge at the self-pay rate will be charged.

For cancellations with more than 24 hours notice but less than 48 hours notice, a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment charge at the self-pay rate will be charged.

Please note that most insurers will not cover a cancellation fee so you would be invoiced directly.

If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees. Please note that even if someone else is paying your bill or you have private medical insurance, you are responsible for paying any charge which they do not pay.

I am recognised by most of the private medical insurance companies. Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.

Payment is due within 60 days of the invoice or interest charges and court fees may be applied.
